Ryan Ebright is a musicologist who specializes in American opera and contemporary music. In his research project “New Music Theater, New Music Ensembles”, he investigates the impact of chamber theater works being scored for specific ensembles, and why ensembles are undertaking these theatrical pieces. He also investigates what this means regarding the expansion of the concept of opera and music theatre, and the challenges that come with it.
