Society for Music Theory (SMT) mainly supports excellence and scholarly contribution in the field of music theory. These grants and awards aim to: i. Recognize impactful research and publications. ii. Support students and emerging scholars, especially those completing dissertations or presenting at conferences. iii. Assist with financial barriers, such as publishing costs, travel or caregiving. iv Encourage broader participation, including international theorists and independent researchers.
